Envy and it's cost

No doubts we live in a competitive world, it’s very easy to become envious of others’ successes and achievements. In the startup field, there are always a few exceptional individuals who thrive swiftly in their respective industries. I know of someone that produced an app that quickly gained 20 million active users. When your co-worker surpass you, or when one has an outwardly perfect relationship, it is very easy to turn to resentment. Most at time, we don’t concede to these feelings.

Feeling jealous and competitive are an adaptive strategy. Humans naturally tend to equate themselves to others because it was inherent to outperform others in order to survive.

In the eyes of an average man, being envious is natural but the feelings does more harm than good.

  • It takes your entire mind to purchase envy

People's ability to act and think solely interferes with envy. Rather than working on accomplishing a higher level of success and achievements, it focuses a person’s mind and attention on what they lack. Who is an envious person? The one who is blind to see their own progress, all they see is someone else victory's and success. Without proper measures for their own progress, envious individuals swiftly lose their motivation altogether.

Secondly, those who bother about the aftermath that others encounter never take a time out to think about the journey their competitors had to undergo to reach that level of success. Envious people are blind to their own abilities and strengths, and they’re incapable to see the weaknesses of rivals.

It is advisable for you not to spend your entire life envying and trying to be like someone because you think they are more efficient, better at solving problems or more easily promoted, by so doing, you’ll never become better. A person who wastes his/her time bothering about others’ victory and triumph will never be able to see his/her own potential. Even when the envious person finally succeeds in life, he/she will have an eye for the other person that there is little cause for celebration. The venomous cycle extends, and the envious individual never gets satisfied.
The naked truth is that there will always be someone who is better, smarter and more pro efficient. The question is who would that be. Being envious condemns people to lead lives in which they frequently hope to have more. Genuine motivation for success concedes better outcomes than acrimony of other's achievement.

Conclusion

Basically, not only is freeing oneself of envy crucial for staying focused on what is important, it also makes life much more pleasing. Being able to celebrate another person’s success or victory without having a negative effect has led to more partnership and opportunity than if that success had created a catastrophic relationship.

As soon as you start coveting the success of others, realign yourself with your vision, and acknowledge that we are all embarking on a journey to become the greatest original versions of ourselves.
