Buenos días, buenas tardes o buenas noches, damas y caballeros. ¿Cómo están? ¿Cómo se encuentran el día de hoy? Espero que estén pasando un buen fin de semana.
Hoy les vengo a hablar de un anime que me apareció mucho en redes sociales porque, de cierta manera, es triste. A mí me gusta llorar con los animes tristes, así que tarde o temprano tenía que darle una oportunidad. Tampoco es que sea un anime muy nuevo; tiene unos cuantos años, pero me animé a verlo entre este año y el pasado. Cuenta con dos temporadas y, para mi fortuna, anunciaron que la tercera temporada saldría este año.
Pobres los que vieron este anime en su día y tuvieron que esperar tanto tiempo (casi dos años, creo). ¡Qué suerte la mía por no tener que esperar tanto! Aunque, de cierta manera, llegué a pensar que esa nueva temporada nunca saldría, ya que el anuncio de la tercera temporada se hizo hace años (justo en el capítulo final de la segunda temporada), pero no hubo más información hasta este nuevo anuncio reciente.
Lo único que espero es que no hayan tenido problemas y que no terminen cambiando el estudio, provocando que la animación se vea mala, porque ese siempre es mi mayor miedo en casos como estos. Por ejemplo, pasó con Tower of God: la primera temporada es buenísima, con un estilo artístico impresionante, pero la segunda deja mucho que desear, además de que todo está muy apresurado. Pero bueno, esperemos a ver qué acontece con este anime.
Así que, dejándonos de cháchara y sin más dilación, hablemos sobre To Your Eternity.
Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening, ladies and gentlemen. How are you? How are you doing today? I hope you’re having a lovely weekend.
Today, I’m here to talk about an anime that kept popping up on my social media because, in a way, it’s quite sad. I enjoy a good cry with emotional anime, so sooner or later, I had to give it a chance. It’s not exactly a brand-new anime—it’s been around for a few years—but I finally decided to watch it sometime between last year and this one. It has two seasons, and luckily for me, they announced that the third season will be released this year.
Poor those who watched this anime when it first came out and had to wait so long (nearly two years, I think). Lucky me for not having to wait that long! Though, at one point, I did start to wonder if this new season would ever see the light of day, since the announcement for the third season was made years ago (right at the end of the second season’s finale) but there was no further news until this recent update.
My only hope is that they haven’t run into any issues that would lead to a studio change, resulting in poor animation quality—because that’s always my biggest fear in cases like this. For example, it happened with Tower of God: the first season was brilliant, with stunning artistry, but the second season left much to be desired, feeling rushed on top of it all. But well, let’s wait and see how things turn out with this anime.
So, without further ado, let’s get straight to it—let’s talk about To Your Eternity.

El anime nos narra la historia de un ser inmortal que no posee ni raciocinio ni cuerpo propio. Este es enviado a la Tierra "sin objetivo aparente", donde al llegar se transforma en una piedra, pasando mucho tiempo sin hacer prácticamente nada. Hasta que un día, cerca de él, muere un lobo blanco, haciendo que adquiera dicha forma. Así, por primera vez, toma conciencia y obtiene un cuerpo con el cual moverse. Al no tener conocimiento de cómo usarlos, no sabe identificar las sensaciones ni los sentimientos, y tampoco sabe cómo caminar.
En su proceso de aprendizaje, termina llegando a una aldea donde parece vivir solo un chico albino, del cual desconocemos el nombre, pero descubriremos que aquel lobo blanco que murió se llamaba Joaan. Durante su proceso de descubrimiento, el ser inmortal se quedará con el primer ser vivo y pensante que encuentra, adoptando y reemplazando así a la mascota fallecida.
Durante su estadía con el chico albino, aprenderá a comer, a sentir dolor y también a sentir amor, aunque aún no comprenda qué es ese sentimiento. Pero, sobre todo, experimentará el sentimiento que lo perseguirá durante toda su travesía: la tristeza de perder a sus seres queridos, los cuales, tarde o temprano, morirán, mientras que él seguirá viviendo.
El chico albino, al encontrarse solo en la aldea, decide emprender un viaje para encontrar civilización, siguiendo los pasos que habían dejado anteriormente los otros aldeanos. Sin embargo, se encuentra con la trágica situación de que nunca vinieron a buscarlo porque todos habían muerto debido al clima y las condiciones del Ártico. El chico, herido al intentar volver a la aldea, fallece, haciendo que el ser inmortal adopte su cuerpo y decida cumplir el sueño de su primer "amigo".
The anime tells the story of an immortal being that possesses neither reason nor a physical body of its own. It is sent to Earth "with no apparent purpose" and, upon arrival, transforms into a stone, spending a long time doing practically nothing. Then, one day, a white wolf dies near it, prompting the being to take on the wolf’s form. For the first time, it gains awareness and a body with which to move. Lacking knowledge of how to use its senses, it cannot identify feelings or emotions, nor does it understand how to walk.
During its journey of learning, it eventually arrives at a village where only an unnamed albino boy appears to live. Later, we discover that the white wolf who died was named Joaan. As the immortal being continues to explore existence, it stays with the first living, sentient creature it encounters—effectively adopting and replacing the deceased companion.
While living with the albino boy, the immortal learns to eat, feel pain, and even experience love, though it does not yet comprehend what this emotion means. Most significantly, it encounters a feeling that will haunt it throughout its journey: the sorrow of losing loved ones, who inevitably die while it continues to live.
The albino boy, left alone in the village, decides to embark on a journey to find civilisation, following trails left behind by villagers who had departed earlier. Tragically, he discovers they never returned for him because they had all perished due to the harsh Arctic climate and conditions. Injured while attempting to return to the village, the boy dies. The immortal being then assumes his body and resolves to fulfil the dream of its first "friend".

To Your Eternity te invita a empatizar con un ser naciente, un bebé recién llegado al mundo sin forma definida y en constante cambio. Conforme avanza la obra, este ser va adquiriendo sentimientos y capacidades cada vez más humanas. Pero, ¿al obtener estas características se convierte realmente en humano o simplemente está imitando a la humanidad? Quizás el propósito de su llegada a la Tierra era precisamente adquirir la inteligencia que nos caracteriza y esas emociones y personalidades que nos hacen únicos, desarrollando su propia forma de pensar.
Sin embargo, el ser inmortal no puede aprender por sí solo. Son los humanos con los que se encuentra quienes le otorgan el conocimiento necesario: una niña pequeña que sueña con ser madre le enseñará qué es la comida y le dará el nombre con el que será conocido durante toda la serie; una anciana le mostrará cómo escribir y hablar; un joven con el rostro desfigurado por un accidente, a quien todos llaman monstruo, le hará comprender lo que significa tener un hermano y pertenecer a una familia.
El conocimiento que recibe el inmortal es lo que lo define. Tal vez, si hubiera caído en malas manos, su naturaleza habría sido malvada. Pero, con todo lo aprendido, decidió ayudar a la humanidad, enfrentando la amenaza que estaba destinado a combatir tarde o temprano.
Podría definir esta aventura como un redescubrimiento de las emociones y de lo que significa ser humano. La narrativa nos hace crecer junto al protagonista, experimentando sus mismos sentimientos y deseando que tanto él como quienes lo rodean encuentren la felicidad en cada momento.
To Your Eternity invites you to empathise with a nascent being—a newborn entity arriving in the world without defined form, constantly changing. As the story progresses, this being gradually acquires increasingly human emotions and abilities. But in gaining these traits, does it truly become human, or is it merely mimicking humanity? Perhaps the very purpose of its arrival on Earth was to attain the intelligence that defines us, along with the emotions and personalities that make us unique, developing its own way of thinking.
Yet, the immortal being cannot learn on its own. It is the humans it encounters who impart the necessary knowledge: a young girl who dreams of being a mother teaches it what food is and gives it the name by which it will be known throughout the series; an elderly woman shows it how to write and speak; a young man with a face disfigured by an accident—whom everyone calls a monster—helps it understand what it means to have a brother and belong to a family.
The knowledge the immortal receives is what shapes it. Had it fallen into the wrong hands, its nature might have been wicked. But with all it has learned, it chooses to aid humanity, confronting the threat it was destined to face sooner or later.
One might describe this journey as a rediscovery of emotions and what it means to be human. The narrative allows us to grow alongside the protagonist, sharing in its feelings and yearning for both it and those around it to find happiness in every moment.

En conclusión, tenemos entre manos un anime muy bonito donde los personajes que influyen en el desarrollo del Inmortal son, cada uno, memorables a su manera y le dejan enseñanzas tanto a él como a nosotros. Sin lugar a dudas, mi favorito es Gugu: su historia es tan triste como memorable, y me encanta cómo le enseña al Inmortal el significado de la valentía, demostrándole que, mientras él esté, tiene a alguien en quien confiar. Se me hacen los ojos agua con solo recordarlo, pues está increíblemente bien escrito.
Además, me resulta triste que el Inmortal adopte la forma de aquellos que fallecen, porque, técnicamente, vive con esa carga una vez que es consciente de ella. Es desgarrador pensar cómo sufre con cada persona que conoce.
En cuanto a la animación, a mi parecer es muy buena: las batallas están bien logradas y las escenas cotidianas son excelentes, fundamentales para el desarrollo del protagonista. Estoy seguro de que cada espectador tendrá un personaje favorito distinto, pues hay mucho donde elegir.
Otro aspecto que me gusta es el tratamiento del tiempo. Aunque el Inmortal no envejece, vemos cómo sí lo hacen quienes lo acompañan, lo que aporta un gran realismo al mundo del anime. Además, resulta muy llamativo que en la tercera temporada deba enfrentarse al mundo actual; tengo curiosidad por ver cómo se desarrollará eso.
Por ahora, en mi opinión, es un sólido 7,8/10. Cuando finalice, podré dar un veredicto más definitivo.
In conclusion, we’re dealing with a truly beautiful anime in which every character who influences the Immortal’s development is memorable in their own way, leaving lasting lessons—both for him and for us. Without a doubt, my favourite is Gugu: his story is as heartbreaking as it is unforgettable, and I adore how he teaches the Immortal the meaning of courage while proving that, as long as he’s there, the Immortal has someone to rely on. Just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes—his character is that brilliantly written.
What also saddens me is how the Immortal takes on the forms of those who’ve died, effectively carrying that burden once he becomes aware of it. It’s agonising to see how much he suffers with each person he meets.
As for the animation, I’d say it’s excellent—the fight scenes are superbly executed, and the slice-of-life moments are equally outstanding, playing a vital role in the protagonist’s growth. I’m certain every viewer will have a different favourite character, as there’s so much to choose from.
Another aspect I love is the passage of time. Though the Immortal never ages, we witness those around him growing older, making the anime’s world feel strikingly realistic. It’s also fascinating that Season 3 will thrust him into the modern era—I’m eager to see how that unfolds.
For now, I’d firmly rate it a 7.8/10. Once it concludes, I’ll be able to give a more definitive verdict.
